A Story Baked in Budapest
We’re Gabriel and Nora, two very different people from different corners of the world — brought together by a shared dream (and a mutual obsession for good food).
We started Cinnahaven because Budapest was missing something: a space filled with the smell of warm dough, brown sugar, and cinnamon — something comforting, exciting, and made with care.
For us, cinnamon rolls aren’t just desserts. They’re about connection — to joy, to memory, and to the people we bake for every day.
A Story of Two People, One Shared Passion for Food (and a Lot of Cinnamon)
Gabriel
I’m Gabriel, originally from Venezuela, but with Hungarian roots through my grandfather. I moved to Budapest when I was 18 — partly to explore those roots, and partly to challenge myself professionally. I’ve always been passionate about food, and Hungary felt like the perfect place to grow and reconnect with my heritage.
I did grow up with kürtőskalács, and the way it brought people together. I wanted to create something that could do the same.
At Cinnahaven, I bring the warmth and sweetness of my Latin background, mixed with the detail and dedication I associate with Hungarian tradition. Every roll is a little piece of both worlds.
“Cinnamon rolls are more than just a dessert — they’re a moment of happiness. The aroma, texture, and flavor of cinnamon have the power to awaken memories and emotions, just like kürtőskalács did in my childhood.”
Nora
I’m Nora, born and raised in Hungary. I never thought I’d open a bakery — but here we are! Before Cinnahaven, I tried myself in many different jobs: I played handball for years, worked in all kinds of jobs, and eventually found my way into hospitality — where I met Gabriel.
Food has always meant family to me. I still remember helping my grandmother in the kitchen, waking up early for Easter holidays, and baking together before everyone came over. That’s when my love for cooking really began.
Cinnamon rolls weren’t part of my childhood — we had kakaós csiga, of course — but once I tasted a truly great cinnamon roll, I saw the potential. They’re soft, gooey, handmade, and filled with endless creativity. Now I get to help make them part of Hungarian food culture — and that’s something I’m really proud of.
“Cinnamon rolls are still quite unique in Hungary, which makes me excited — we have the chance to make them part of Hungarian food culture.”
